"ya gotta take advantage of the downhills" ...

a few years ago, my friend suzanne and i did a marathon as part of our 3-day breast cancer walk training ... during the second half of the run/walk, we kept pace-to-pace with an elderly gentleman ... we would pass him going uphill and he'd pass us going downhill ... on his way by, he'd shout out "ya gotta take advantage of the downhills girls" ... (need i point out how thrilled i was to be called "girl" at the ripe age of 47 years?) ...

i got thinking about these words today ... isn't that a life lesson right there? ...

every day life presents us with hills to navigate ... whether it is in our dealings with our children, people we meet as we go about our business, illness, work, clients, teachers, other parents, etc ...

so on a cold, drizzly day in seattle ...

i cheerfully sent off the package that was the result of two sales on etsy (you might recall my unlike ms. heart moment a few days back ... some might call it a rant but i prefer to refer to it as a moment) ...

up the hill ... down the hill ...
